Nemo's Essential Mix to Air Saturday!
My buddy Nemo (Scott) who lives in Ottumwa, IA is a drum and bass & jungle DJ that can spin records like a mad man. I asked him if he could make "The IC Essential Mix" an exclusive mix to get you pumped up for this Saturday night and also get the year started off right with a badass essential mix! Remember that every week this year will be a different performer and this semester should be near completely full of all exclusives! Get pumped, it all starts Saturday at 5PM!

Coachella 08 Line-Up Announced
Don't think I will personally be able to make it cause I'm saving up for a trip to Ibiza next year but if you have some cash sitting around and looking for a good concert these 3 days will be insane!
Some notables of the lineup for me are:
Friday:
DIPLO
Spank Rock
Adam Freeland
Santo Gold
Animal Collective
The National
Dan Deacon
Architecture in Helsinki
dan le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip
Saturday:
Boys Noize
Para One

Erol Alkan (one of my fav. DJs rite now)
Bonde Do Role
New Young Pony Club
Sasha and Digweed
Calvin Harris
Hot Chip
Kraftwerk (for the love of God! Legends!)
Death Cab

and last but not least DEADMAU5!
Really wish I could go...but I think the only way I will go is me stumbling on a large sum of money or if one of my awesome bad ass listeners or readers wants to take their fav. DJ on a trip! ;-)
KRUI is Now Back on the Air
KRUI went back to live DJs at 7 AM CST this morning so if you turn you dials on now there should be live DJs for 99% (accounting for a random short out) of the time till Spring Break!

MLK Tribute
While many people look at this day just as one to get off of school or work, Martin Luther King needs to be honored this day in January for his righteous actions and for the amazing life he lived.
Here is a remix of Jakatta's "American Dream" I made a couple years ago in tribute to MLK:

Five House and Electro Predictions for 2008
1. Deadmau5 (pronounced Deadmouse) as well as BSOD (Deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) and Steve Duda) will continue to rise to greater fame.
Not that Deadmau5 didn't kick major ass in 2007 with tracks such as his remix of "Harder, Faster, Stronger" and "Not Exactly" but Deadmau5's side project, BSOD which includes Steve Duda launched some epic tracks like "This Is Also The Hook" and their remix of Armand Van Helden's "Witch Doktor."
Safe to say that Deadmau5 has more booty dropping rhythms set to start riots in 2008!
BSOD
2. Electro will continue to rock clubs in 2008
I love Disco House and Deep House but hard Electro beats have found a home in clubs around the nation and will continue to beat out it's funkier counterparts in 2008. Also, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, and other traditionally "Trance" DJs will release more remixes such as Tiesto's "Lovestoned" that will be House orientated.
3. Lollapalooza 2008 will host another big name DJ
Maybe this is wishful thinking but organizers of Lollapalooza music festival have to be pumped about the response that Daft Punk received at Lolla 07'. Therefore, organizers will book another big name DJ that will get the Househeads out to Grant Park another year!
4. Blog Music will continue to rise in popularity - possibly receive scrutiny
As well all know, 2007 was a big year for "Blog Music". The ability to get music, keep up on releases, and hear about upcoming gigs are just a few of the things that blogs devoted to music provided us in 2007 but will the record companies start to attack blogs that post music for free? Regardless, distribution of House and Electro will continue in 2008.
5. More bedroom DJs and Producers will make in big
To ignore the fact that the Myspace revolution and the internet in general has changed electronic music is completely ignorant. The big boys will have to step up their game to compete with the unknowns as the internet will continue and increase that exposure of small time DJs and Producers.

I will be uploading the mixes to the automation schedule so they will be airing at various times for the next week while we are on break!
